This publication details the nutritional standards for school lunches which all grant-aided schools must adhere to. As well as explaining why the nutritional standards have been introduced, it offers practical advice on how to implement them. The standards have been produced as part of the governmentメs School food: top marks programme. The programme, launched by the Department of Education, the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety and the Health Promotion Agency for Northern Ireland, recognises the important role schools play in contributing to childhood nutrition and in developing childrenメs knowledge and skills in relation to making healthier food choices. There is a poster summarising these Nutritional standards for school lunches and a companion publication, Nutritional standards for other food and drinks in schools: a guide to implementation which details the standards that should apply across the school day.
